Consistently ranked as one of the top academic departments of medicine by the NIH, the UH Cleveland Medical Center Department of Medicine has a lot to be proud of.
Karen Myers Design has produced their annual report for a number of years now. The annual serves as a marketing piece externally – going to chairs and medical school leaders, as well as for the recruitment of potential faculty candidates. Internally, it functions as an informational and inspirational piece for faculty, staff, and trainees. These annual reports serve as important communication pieces for presenting the department’s past successes and future goals.
Each year, our goal is to produce a visually beautiful, well-organized piece that is both memorable and unique. Compelling design, photography, and infographics compliment the narrative. Focus has been on some of the following themes: growing superstars within the school, the value of mentoring, as well as the importance of creating a collaborative culture.
As with previous years, the client was very pleased with this year’s annual. With the latest annual, recently released in both a print and digital version, we have again achieved our goal.
Successful, impactful communications!

The mission of The Broadway School of Music & the Arts is to enrich those in the Slavic Village community by providing access to high-quality, diverse arts and music instruction and programming. Working closely with the executive director, my goal has been to help them get their unique message out. For them to be seen and heard. Creatively and effectively.
Just recently, we’ve completed and installed a series of building banners. The vibrant graphics and emotive messaging provide a dramatic visual presence on the street, all while promoting the school with positive, meaningful branding.

After years of various departments independently producing their own marketing material, I was asked to come in and brand the school. The goal was to develop a consistent look and message and apply it to a wide range of communication vehicles. This included the development of a color system, determination of typography and type families, creation of grid systems, and photo direction. Collaborating with the marketing department, the result is a visual representation of the school's brand: a dynamic, creatively driven institution focused on the future – with a nod to its rich history.
We extended CIA's new branding to the school's many publications, banners and signage, annual reports, recruitment material, forms and stationery, and online applications, among other marketing vehicles.

Karen Myers Design has been involved in many of this client’s communication projects, which have been aimed at a number of different audiences.
The Case For Giving and Board of Directors Report marks the beginning of a brand refresh for the organization. As always, bold color and emotive messaging are key to the look and feel.
The vibrant and engaging 8ft by 10ft lobby display was created for a special four-day event at the Cleveland Public Theatre. We sought to convey the disquieting portrait of just how many people in our area live in poverty, including in the suburbs. This display now resides in the lobby at the United Way offices at Playhouse Square.
Prior collaborations focused on the message Together, We’re Greater—which was the theme of the organization's advertising campaign. Although this book contains a lot of straightforward facts and statistical information, we successfully wove several real-life success stories into the book. The idea was to put a human face on some of the people and families that this organization has helped change for the better. In utilizing this potent storytelling, we aimed to further inspire the community of volunteers and contributors.
The data-driven Community Assessment Report was developed as a companion piece to the Annual Report, and was presented to community stakeholders and business leaders at the annual Town Hall Meeting in Cleveland.

Collaborating with the Weatherhead marketing group, we developed a number of key marketing pieces which helped distinguish the school while working within Case Western Reserve's new branding guidelines.
Photo art direction became an important part of an overall strategy to present the school with a less sterile personality while introducing color and vibrancy. With this updated and more personable communications approach, the result was a body of work that projected the school as approachable, progressive, and smart.

An additional communication initiative had us focusing an international audience, as marketing to that sector has become more of a priority for the school.

Among the numerous marketing pieces Karen Myers Design has developed for the firm, these were some standouts. The tri-fold brochure provides basic information on each partner and the firm. A custom pocket houses an often-updated booklet which is printed digitally in short runs, and contains the lawyer's most recent accomplishments and awards.
How do you make a new partners’ announcement memorable? This piece sends a two-pronged message via a clever reveal, with the gatefold helping to facilitate the messaging.
